ヨーロッパオオカミ / Eurasian wolf

こちらは多分ロトさん！ウロウロしてから岩を枕にして休憩中！
ハイイロオオカミの亜種であるヨーロッパオオカミは生息数が安定しているため「軽度懸念」となっています。同じハイイロオオカミの亜種でも地域によってレッドリストステータスは異なり、例えばメキシコオオカミは「絶滅危惧１B類」です。すでに絶滅してしまった亜種も数多く、有名なのはニホンオオカミやエゾオオカミですよね。

The eurasian wolf is a local subspecies of the grey wolf and as the name suggests, inhabits a wide range of the eurasian continent.
Currently increasing in number, these guys are considered LC; however, other localised subspecies such as the Mexican grey wolf are very much endangered... Some subspecies are already extinct; Japanese wolves and Ezo wolves to name a few.
中世ヨーロッパではオオカミの駆除が政策として推進され各国で数が減少しました。現時点では欧州８カ国で地域的に絶滅してしまっています。どこでも悪者扱いされてしまうオオカミたち…！
１９５０年代以降は郊外での人口が減り駆除政策も終わったため自然と生息数が回復してきています。
In the middle ages European governments had legislated the extermination of wolves, and as of today they are already extinct in 8 european countries. Currently, due to the decline of human population in rural areas and the end of wolf extermination policies, eurasian wolf population is naturally recovering!
レッサーパンダ / Red panda
IUCNレッドリスト：絶滅危機（２番目に危険度が高い）
IUCN red list: ENDANGERED
ジャイアントパンダのように雨の多い標高の高い山岳地帯を好むレッサーパンダですが、ジャイアントパンダより生息範囲が広いんです。
パンダ同様に笹ももちろん食べますが、いろんな種類の実、果物や卵類も食べます！
フサフサの長い尻尾は防寒対策に使われます。
木の上で１日を過ごすことも多く、森林伐採のせいで生息範囲が狭まってしまっています。
Red pandas live in habitats similar to the giant panda; rainy and high altitude mountains. They also like to eat bamboos, but they do eat other things like fruits, nuts and eggs. Their long bushy tail keeps them insulated during harsh climates in the mountains.
Like many other animals, deforestation is a big reason why they are endangered; red pandas spend most of the day in trees, even when sleeping!
シャモア / Chamois

ターキン同様にヤギとアンテロープに似た特徴を持つシャモア。顔の模様が特徴的ですね！
ヨーロッパの山岳地帯に幅広く生息していて、レッドリストでは軽度懸念です。軽度懸念にもかかわらずヨーロッパではすでに狩りが禁じられており、早い段階で保護下に置かれているんですよ！
元来はヨーロッパのみに生息していましたが、１９００年代初めにオーストリアから数頭がニュージーランドに贈られ、現在はニュージーでも生息数は増加しました。
Like the Takin, they are also similar to the goat and antelope that live in the mountainous areas in Europe.
Originally only in Europe, the Austrian government gifted New Zealand with a few chamois back in 1907. These guys adapted into the new environment and populations are stable.
IUCN classifies them as LC, nonetheless they are already protected by the governments; hunting chamois is prohibited!
