本日１０月４日は【世界動物の日】なのです♪

１９３１年に制定されてから今年で８６回目になる世界動物の日は、

世界各地でありとあらゆる動物のために様々な保護団体や愛護団体が活動を行います。

（正式に制定される前は１９２５年から毎年行われていました）

なぜ１０月４日なのか？

この日は、カトリック教会と聖公会で崇敬されているアシジの聖フランチェスコの聖名祝日。

彼は、神が創り出した人と動物は兄弟姉妹であり　平等な扱いであるべきだ、と説いたそうです！

宗教的な由来があるとは、わたしたちも初めて知りました！

有名な団体でも、まだまだ草の根活動の小規模団体でも、とにかく活動を知ってもらい注目してもらうことが重要です。

Happy WORLD ANIMAL DAY!!

Today October 4th is a day for celebrating animal rights and welfare.

This date was officially accepted way back in 1931, during International Animal Protection Congress in Italy, but the event has been going on strong since 1925!

Why 10/4?

10/4 is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, who is the patron saint of animals and ecology.

Although with a Catholic background, this day is celebrated in many countries no matter the race or religion!

World Animal Day official site has a page sharing animal related events from all over the world!

As a host, you can easily register and have your event posted online.

As a traveller, it would make your trip more interesting by checking out events in your destination :)
